210222W_sm As we wait and see what the next storm will bring us we have been put on a storm watch.

It would seem that it will go above us but there is a chance that it will drop below of Cuba.

We expect that there will be some sea’s over the next few days as Ike moves by.

Whole Ike is a cat 4 its well worth watching out for.

Once again I went out with some people from work and after had some lunch after.

It’s the first dive after the storm and the water was not as clear as it would normally be for the most part there was not much damage to the reef.

Hurricane Gustav has moved by now but it had left some of the place busted up somewhat.

We had a drive around after the storm, wasn’t too bad, things were much worse for Ike, even though he was further away.

I think the think that first jumps to mind is that way that the sea has just started to washup over parts of the island.

We have been exposed to about a 2ft storm surge, not much but its the rase in the sea swell that seems to be causing some problems.

Another week another storm, hurricane Gustav.

As Gustav approached towards Cayman the island went into normal hurricane fever, shopping was crazy, petrol stations were full etc, a lot of businesses closed down or sent staff home even on the Wednesday, most businesses were shut by Thursday night.

On Friday some selected businesses were open, supermarkets etc. The Government had instructed all businesses to close if possible.

We had Friday off, it arrived Friday night early hours of Saturday morning. We had been given  several days notice that this storm might stray our way, but it seem that Gustav would stay clear of us.

However it changed its mind and started to head south west looping below Jamaica and then once its path north was clear it started to move toward us.

Steve, Kristi and I headed off to Cobalt Coast for a morning dive. Unlike usual there was a 1-2kt current moving along the edge of the mini wall. We made our way out and headed into it for a while.

There where fish tucked in close to anything that was giving them some cover. It was easy to notice and we found that we where doing the same.

It was odd that there where turtles everywhere, I think we came across 4 in total. One found us something to play with and followed us as we moved along.

Today we arranged for Beatriz to look after the girls whole Brooke, Marcia, Steve and I went on a boat dive with a group for work.

We headed up the front of the Island then across the top to North Wall. Our first dive was at a location called Eagle Ray Pass. It was about a 45min trip, like usual the water was very calm and it was nice to spend some time with Brooke out on the water.

This location lived up to its namesake, we saw several eagle rays, including some that performed a display of underwater acrobatics.
